Using Shinolocker, I can simulate ransomware on an infected Windows File Server. Shinolocker is a friendly ransomware, by this I mean that it encrypts only the directory you point it at and provides you an encryption key to decry-pt.
This is designed as a training tool http://www.shinolocker.com not to test your security such as anti-virus, Windows Defender or other security technologies but to test your recovery methods. So using AES 128 bit encryption it will encrypt your files so you can test recovery.
In the video below I take a Windows 2012 File server being protected by Zerto and run Shinolocker and restore with only seconds of data loss using Zerto. The video is annotated as I go along and please share, like & ask questions.
